From the reviews

What an amazing experience starting with heavy hands has been. I am a business owner and find myself stressing out and getting caught up in work. I have been an athlete my whole life but lost motivation with all training and athletic movement due to the typical stressors that any business owner knows.

★★★★★ — George, May 2024

I’ve been training at Heavy Hands since October 2025, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. The coaching is top-notch—our coach Jordan is knowledgeable, supportive, and really knows how to push you to improve while still making training enjoyable. The atmosphere here is one of the best parts.

There honestly aren’t enough words to describe what Heavy Hands has become to me. What started out as a cool way to exercise quickly became a group of people I can’t imagine doing life without.

★★★★★ — Samantha, Aug 2025

I love the positive, welcoming environment you get as soon as you walk in the door. Jordan is very smart and skilled in Muay Thai. I appreciated how he helped critique me on an individual level and encourages constant development/ improvement out of everyone.

New to kickboxing? Start at Heavy Hands Muay Thai Gym

Heavy Hands Muay Thai Gym comes up as a beginner-friendly gym — noted on their own site. If you've never thrown a punch or a kick, that's exactly who a good beginners class is for. A few things worth knowing before your first week. First, you don't need to be fit or coordinated to start — you get in shape by training, not before it, and coaches scale every drill to you. Second, you won't be thrown into hard sparring — reputable gyms build the basics (stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads and bags) first, and any contact eases in gradually under a coach's control. Third, all fitness levels really are welcome — ask about a dedicated beginners or fundamentals class time so your first session is alongside others who are also starting out. Most gyms are happy to let you watch or try a class first, so reach out before you commit.

Your first kickboxing class at Heavy Hands Muay Thai Gym

Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Kickboxing is a contact sport. Warm up, pace yourself, listen to your coaches, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
