Kickboxing gyms, by what else they teach

Plenty of kickboxing gyms teach more than kickboxing. Many are full martial arts schools where the same floor is shared with a whole other curriculum — a muay thai or boxing program, an MMA team, sometimes BJJ, karate, or dedicated self-defense classes under the same roof. That's good news if you want more than one thing: to add the clinch, knees and elbows of muay thai, to sharpen your hands with real boxing, to cross-train for mixed martial arts, or just to have options on nights the kickboxing class doesn't fit. Pick an art below and you'll see the kickboxing gyms that also train it, ranked by rating, with members' reviews as proof. New to how these arts differ and overlap? Start with the flagship guide, kickboxing vs muay thai vs boxing.

The arts a gym teaches come from its own website, its Google business categories, and members' reviews. Programs change — if training a second art is the reason you're choosing a gym, confirm it with them before you commit.

🛡️ Self-Defense

🥊 Boxing

Hands-only striking — footwork, head movement and sharp punching — the classic complement to kickboxing's kicks, and a superb workout in its own right.

🥋 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — the ground game of control, leverage and submissions. Some striking gyms teach it too, for a complete self-defense and MMA base.

🦵 Muay Thai

The "art of eight limbs" — punches, kicks, knees, elbows and clinch — the striking art most often taught alongside kickboxing, and a natural next step into the full stand-up game.

🏟️ MMA

Where striking meets grappling — many kickboxing and muay thai gyms run an MMA program too, adding takedowns and ground game to your stand-up.

🥋 Karate

1,543 kickboxing gyms also train this

A traditional striking art of stance, form and discipline — often taught with a strong kids' and family program and a belt-ranked path of progression.

Why kickboxing gyms are so often multi-art

Kickboxing gives you a world-class striking workout, but many gyms grow naturally into more than that — adding muay thai for the clinch, knees and elbows, boxing to specialise the hands, and full MMA programs that bolt a grappling base onto the striking. Sharing a roof also just makes sense: one facility, one community, one membership, more ways to train. A gym lands on a page here when its own site or its members' reviews show real evidence it teaches that art — "they also run muay thai next door," "great boxing program," "the MMA coach is excellent" are exactly the lines that count. One honest caveat: a class schedule is a snapshot, not a promise — gyms add and drop programs, so confirm before you count on it.
