Absolutely love training here! Decided to make some life changes at the end of 2023, and one of the biggest ones for me was to lose weight (for my health and psyche), as well as learn how to defend myself properly.
Spartan Martial Arts and Fitness is more than just a training facility—it’s a true community. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is welcoming, supportive, and family-oriented.
This place is so much more than just a gym. When I first moved to south Florida, I was completely overwhelmed. As a single mother of two, I was so grateful to find Spartan. Coach D and his wife, along with their amazing children, immediately took us in.
We’re so grateful to have found Spartan Martial Arts! My daughter loves it there and is always excited to attend classes! Very caring, dedicated, and humble owners/instructors. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to join a martial arts and fitness program. Great for both adults and children.
New to kickboxing? Start at Spartan Martial Arts and Fitness
Spartan Martial Arts and Fitness comes up as a beginner-friendly gym — noted on their own site. If you've never thrown a punch or a kick, that's exactly who a good beginners class is for. A few things worth knowing before your first week. First, you don't need to be fit or coordinated to start — you get in shape by training, not before it, and coaches scale every drill to you. Second, you won't be thrown into hard sparring — reputable gyms build the basics (stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads and bags) first, and any contact eases in gradually under a coach's control. Third, all fitness levels really are welcome — ask about a dedicated beginners or fundamentals class time so your first session is alongside others who are also starting out. Most gyms are happy to let you watch or try a class first, so reach out before you commit.
Your first kickboxing class at Spartan Martial Arts and Fitness
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
