From the reviews
Our journey with Higher Vision Studios began years ago with a fun birthday party for a friend's child. The kids had a blast, and we discovered their amazing ninja warrior classes. My children quickly became regulars, and we saw incredible improvements in their coordination, balance, and flexibility.
Been a student for 7 years maybe even 8 I've lost count, Mr Poey is a great coach, and the environment is very friendly and fun. Kickboxxing is awesome and karate is amazing. Taught me so well that I won grand champion with the training they've given me and I look forward to the future they have.
Been going to the studio for almost 9 years. I've stayed and came every week and earned my 2nd degree blackbelt after 8 years. Truly an amazing dojo; changed my whole life. Tom Poey, coach and mentor, has helped me and one of the main people who inspired me to become the person I am today.
My son Johnathan and I knew Master Tom Poey from his dojo and dance studio inception at Shipps Corner in Va. Beach, VA. I was exposed to different instructors, styles, and techniques. My son who was in middle school and later high school won first place competitions several years in a row under Sensi Poey.
Your first kickboxing class at Higher Vision Studios
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
