I cannot recommend CKO Wallkill enough! From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt like part of the community. The biggest standout here is definitely the trainers. They are incredibly welcoming, friendly, and genuinely invested in your progress.
I've loved every class I've been to! Every trainer has their own style, and every class is different. Love the music, the variety, and the welcoming community of members that keeps me wanting to come back 🙂 70lbs down since I joined a couple years ago, and stronger every week 💪🏼 There are classes mornings, nights and…
Super clean! Great energy and music from the instructor. CKO Juan really knows how to motivate. Love the options of merchandise for sale. Overall a great place to get a full body workout 💪
New to kickboxing? Start at CKO Kickboxing Wallkill
CKO Kickboxing Wallkill comes up as a beginner-friendly gym — noted on their own site. If you've never thrown a punch or a kick, that's exactly who a good beginners class is for. A few things worth knowing before your first week. First, you don't need to be fit or coordinated to start — you get in shape by training, not before it, and coaches scale every drill to you. Second, you won't be thrown into hard sparring — reputable gyms build the basics (stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads and bags) first, and any contact eases in gradually under a coach's control. Third, all fitness levels really are welcome — ask about a dedicated beginners or fundamentals class time so your first session is alongside others who are also starting out. Most gyms are happy to let you watch or try a class first, so reach out before you commit.
Your first kickboxing class at CKO Kickboxing Wallkill
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
