From the reviews

The structure, tools, and trainers at 9Round W Adams are what keep me coming back!! The pulse trackers that we wear display our heart rate zones, calories burned, and pulse points. This tool makes all of the difference.

I have loved 9Round since the moment I stepped inside and did my first workout over a year ago. The workouts change everyday which makes working out fun. The workouts are challenging and you leave feeling very accomplished. All the trainers are amazing and help to keep you motivated to do your best!

★★★★★ — Erin, May 2022

I love the trainers at my 9Round! They are encouraging and push when needed. They also know when to slow me down. The workouts changing each day prevents boredom and keeps my body guessing. I don't end up overworking one area and neglecting another.

★★★★★ — Angela, Aug 2019

Great workout! You get intense workouts within a short period of time (I am able to go during my lunch break). This is a major plus seeing as how I have a 9mo baby at home that I do not want to miss spending time with in the evenings before she goes to bed.

New to kickboxing? Start at 9Round

9Round comes up as a beginner-friendly gym — noted on their own site. If you've never thrown a punch or a kick, that's exactly who a good beginners class is for. A few things worth knowing before your first week. First, you don't need to be fit or coordinated to start — you get in shape by training, not before it, and coaches scale every drill to you. Second, you won't be thrown into hard sparring — reputable gyms build the basics (stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads and bags) first, and any contact eases in gradually under a coach's control. Third, all fitness levels really are welcome — ask about a dedicated beginners or fundamentals class time so your first session is alongside others who are also starting out. Most gyms are happy to let you watch or try a class first, so reach out before you commit.

Your first kickboxing class at 9Round

Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Kickboxing is a contact sport. Warm up, pace yourself, listen to your coaches, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
