Years ago I tried a boxing class that I enjoyed going to. Although it was far into Houston, I was so excited to find a hobby that I loved doing. Covid then happened and gyms started to change. Since then I have tried every gym you could think of but I was never fulfilled.
Training with Coach Niko has been an absolute game-changer for me. His dedication to the sport and commitment to his students' progress is unparalleled. Not only does he possess exceptional boxing skills, but his ability to tailor workouts to individual needs ensures maximum improvement.
I’ve been going to 3 Kings Boxing Club for almost a year now, and I can’t say enough good things about it. From day one, I was impressed with the level of detail that Coach Niko puts into his training.
New to kickboxing? Start at 3 Kings Boxing Club
3 Kings Boxing Club comes up as a beginner-friendly gym — noted on their own site. If you've never thrown a punch or a kick, that's exactly who a good beginners class is for. A few things worth knowing before your first week. First, you don't need to be fit or coordinated to start — you get in shape by training, not before it, and coaches scale every drill to you. Second, you won't be thrown into hard sparring — reputable gyms build the basics (stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads and bags) first, and any contact eases in gradually under a coach's control. Third, all fitness levels really are welcome — ask about a dedicated beginners or fundamentals class time so your first session is alongside others who are also starting out. Most gyms are happy to let you watch or try a class first, so reach out before you commit.
Your first kickboxing class at 3 Kings Boxing Club
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
