My whole family trains here, and we LOVE IT! We have met some great people, and it's like a Second family for us.. Comfortable atmosphere, and my kids are learning so much. I do the morning Bootcamp classes, and never felt better. I highly recommend this Academy.

Everyday I come to Watts, is an entirely new learning experience. More than anything it keeps me in shape, not just learning to submit Someone or defend myself. From the moment I walked into watts I knew this was the place for me. They really did an amazing job in making me feel at home.

★★★★★ — Bradford, May 2017

I have been going to paragon for a few weeks now, its quite fun if you want to learn how to fight and they teach you how to actually fight using muay thai and brazillian jiu jitsu. The instructors are good and the enviroment promotes growth within the martial arts and you get better each time you go.

I felt welcomed joining, the instructors know a lot and explains then goes through the demonstration the help me learn. The more experienced members help too, adding like a secondary level of teaching. Very welcoming culture!

New to kickboxing? Start at Paragon Simi Valley

Paragon Simi Valley comes up as a beginner-friendly gym — noted on their own site. If you've never thrown a punch or a kick, that's exactly who a good beginners class is for. A few things worth knowing before your first week. First, you don't need to be fit or coordinated to start — you get in shape by training, not before it, and coaches scale every drill to you. Second, you won't be thrown into hard sparring — reputable gyms build the basics (stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads and bags) first, and any contact eases in gradually under a coach's control. Third, all fitness levels really are welcome — ask about a dedicated beginners or fundamentals class time so your first session is alongside others who are also starting out. Most gyms are happy to let you watch or try a class first, so reach out before you commit.

Your first kickboxing class at Paragon Simi Valley

Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Kickboxing is a contact sport. Warm up, pace yourself, listen to your coaches, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
