From the reviews
One Tribe Martial Arts offers a great service to the local community. The first time I stepped into the facility, I could sense immense joy from the instructors to the parents dropping off their children for instruction. Everyone was engaging, smiling and supporting each other.
We have been at One Tribe for about 2 months now, with our two kids in the tigers class (3-6 yrs). They absolutely love it! The Sifus are disciplined, knowledgeable, and fun. They keep smiles on the kids' faces, even when they are reminding them of the rules. They do not let those kids get rowdy.
Highly recommend for great Kung Fu instruction for all ages. I started at age 50 seven months ago and cannot believe the progress I have made with both the art and fitness.
Best Kung Fu Martial Arts Academy in the area!! Sifu Mike is great! Love my time I spend in classes! Thank you Sifu Mike!
New to kickboxing? Start at One Tribe Martial Arts Academy
One Tribe Martial Arts Academy comes up as a beginner-friendly gym — noted on their own site. If you've never thrown a punch or a kick, that's exactly who a good beginners class is for. A few things worth knowing before your first week. First, you don't need to be fit or coordinated to start — you get in shape by training, not before it, and coaches scale every drill to you. Second, you won't be thrown into hard sparring — reputable gyms build the basics (stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads and bags) first, and any contact eases in gradually under a coach's control. Third, all fitness levels really are welcome — ask about a dedicated beginners or fundamentals class time so your first session is alongside others who are also starting out. Most gyms are happy to let you watch or try a class first, so reach out before you commit.
Your first kickboxing class at One Tribe Martial Arts Academy
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
