“The end of class provides great specific training, rolling sessions, and he often lets us stay after (much like an open mat) if we choose to.”

From the reviews
My 5 year old son has been attending Legacy Glendale since October 2022. He started the BJJ journey at age 3.5 and in the last 1.5 years of training, he has had so much personal growth. His confidence has gone up along with learning how to be a great team mate.
Legacy Glendale is an amazing gym that has both Gi and No-Gi classes! Coach Flexx offers everything that I look for in his No-Gi Jiu Jitsu class! He breaks down the practicality of the techniques in class and also walks around to help students fix any issue/question they may have.
Experience at Legacy Glendale has been amazing. The coaching has been stellar. They work extremely well with kids, every coach/professor has been patient and kind, but at the same time they make sure to keep the kids accountable in their technique and effort they are firm when they need to be.
We had been looking for a Martial Arts class for our girls for some time. We weren’t sure how to go about it. Which type of martial arts to choose or which gym to start with! We came across Legacy and sat on it for some time and finally signed our oldest up.
New to kickboxing? Start at Legacy Glendale
Legacy Glendale comes up as a beginner-friendly gym — noted on their own site. If you've never thrown a punch or a kick, that's exactly who a good beginners class is for. A few things worth knowing before your first week. First, you don't need to be fit or coordinated to start — you get in shape by training, not before it, and coaches scale every drill to you. Second, you won't be thrown into hard sparring — reputable gyms build the basics (stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads and bags) first, and any contact eases in gradually under a coach's control. Third, all fitness levels really are welcome — ask about a dedicated beginners or fundamentals class time so your first session is alongside others who are also starting out. Most gyms are happy to let you watch or try a class first, so reach out before you commit.
Your first kickboxing class at Legacy Glendale
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
