From the reviews
I was only in Rapid City for 2 months for a clinical rotation as a graduate student, and finding an affordable gym is hard when you’re not only a student but a temporary member! Aliive was not only affordable, but the only gym in town that was easy to communicate with! The set up process was very easy and hassle-free.
Friendly, knowledgeable, and non-judgmental trainers are available for a variety of classes throughout the day. They have delicious, precooked meals available at a reasonable price! Even their water is top notch (Kangen). I encourage you to stop in and check them out. My first session was free!
Aliive Fitness has been life-changing for me since moving to Rapid City. Not only did I find a gym where I can work out on my own schedule and bring my kids when needed, but I also found a community of like-minded fitness enthusiasts.
Aliive has such an amazing atmosphere! I was nervous at first I had never been to an actual gym before with weights lol! However when I joined Power hour it didn't matter that I hadn't picked up weight before! They all made sure that we had good form and technique. Which was something I loved!
Your first kickboxing class at Aliive Fitness
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
