From the reviews
Love it here. Came one day for a trial run for my four year old, and didn’t leave. They were so patient with him and his anxiety. He truly has changed over the past few weeks and I appreciate the program more. I love that he can learn new techniques while also learning how to show and receive respect.
Very patient staff and encouraging to students to be their best at home and in class. Teach perseverance and focus in all they do! Would recommend to challenge kids to never quit!
Premier Martial Arts is the greatest spot for learning to fight and make friends. Sensei Dion is the best instructor there is and is just like Jedi Master Yoda. One could learn so much from this school and stay in good health.
Sensei Dion makes the class enjoyable for the kids. He encourages the students to master the concepts of discipline and focus with age appropriate mastery of the karate skills. Highly recommend Premier Martial Arts!
New to kickboxing? Start at Premier Martial Arts - North Charleston
Premier Martial Arts - North Charleston comes up as a beginner-friendly gym — noted on their own site. If you've never thrown a punch or a kick, that's exactly who a good beginners class is for. A few things worth knowing before your first week. First, you don't need to be fit or coordinated to start — you get in shape by training, not before it, and coaches scale every drill to you. Second, you won't be thrown into hard sparring — reputable gyms build the basics (stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads and bags) first, and any contact eases in gradually under a coach's control. Third, all fitness levels really are welcome — ask about a dedicated beginners or fundamentals class time so your first session is alongside others who are also starting out. Most gyms are happy to let you watch or try a class first, so reach out before you commit.
Your first kickboxing class at Premier Martial Arts - North Charleston
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
