From the reviews
KO is a terrific gym with great coaches and staff. I always feel welcome, and I ALWAYS get a fantastic workout. I've been going 9 years, and have never had the same workout twice. It's incredible! The coaches help you no matter your skill level, and the people are great.
KO Boxing is intense, demands results, and fun! If you are looking for change in workouts that will pay off this is where I would go. The coaches are friendly, understanding, and want what you want, results. The atmosphere is comfortable and encouraging. You don't feel like people are judging you or talking about you.
I didn’t know a single thing about boxing or kickboxing when I began going to KO. I went to try the free workout and ended up loving it. I struggle to go to the gym on my own or keep up with group classes but KO is totally different for me and something I look forward to.
I LOVED my experience at K.O. and would have continued there for the rest of my life if I still lived in Manhattan! Coach L is extremely knowledgeable and experienced, so she really knows what she is talking about. She is passionate and wants to see each of her students succeed as athletes.
Your first kickboxing class at K.O. Boxing & Fitness
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
