From the reviews
As a kickboxer / Muay Thai fighter for nearly 15 years, I always said, "Muscles make you slow." I stayed away from the weights and only focused on training. After my UFC friends started encouraging me to check out IHP, I decided to give it a chance. From DAY 1I noticed a difference in my strength.
I found IHP via a google search, was looking for a place with expertise in conditioning and agility training. I filled out their online form and was contacted quickly back via text with clear information on their offerings and package prices. I was given a warm welcome into the IHP family.
I started off working out at LA fitness and never seemed to be comfortable working out but once I joined IHP i started to find myself more excited and comfortable to go to the gym especially with my trainer Ryan Walter who has been teaching me and helping me lots through the way and has helped grow my confidence in…
We had an incredible experience with IHP when they came into our gym to share their expertise on building a strong foundation for success. From the very beginning, they emphasized that everything starts with culture, and they truly embodied that mindset throughout the entire session.
Your first kickboxing class at Institute of Human Performance
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
