From the reviews

One of the best decisions I made as a parent for my son Paris Lee Moran development, growth and discipline healthy lifestyle GB Katy's instructors (Prof. Chris, Alex, Aaron ,Paul) are first class, and their facility is unbeatable. The owners are very professional and treat everyone like family.

Until a year ago I would have never DARED to walk into a BJJ gym but now that Gracie Barra Katy has a all-women's class option I now feel comfortable to do so. This past year has been so great- I have learned things I never thought I would. I am so glad that I did this for myself and only wished I did this sooner.

★★★★★ — Doctor, May 2022

I started my kids in Jiu Jitsu in February and they instantly loved it. Coach muhammad and Professor mango are awesome at teaching and you can tell they love what they do. I saw such an amazing transformation with my kids’ focus in school after just one week of classes and I soon thereafter joined the gym as well.

★★★★★ — Alex, Aug 2018

I’ve been going to Gracie Barbra Katy since January and I absolutely love it. The gym is very clean and the instructors are top notch. The professors are very technical and are always willing to answer any questions or help. The student are all amazing and I would highly recommend this gym.

Your first kickboxing class at Gracie Barra

Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Kickboxing is a contact sport. Warm up, pace yourself, listen to your coaches, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
