From the reviews
I'm not a gym rat, it's just that I get bored easily. And I do make it a point to try something out yearly just for the heck of it. I travel and end up in Pittsburgh a lot so this year I tried Bethel Park Fitness Kickboxing which is a boxing club that is an I Love Kick Boxing franchise.
When a group of people from work decide to try something, I had to get on-board. I did have some stress and certainly need stress relief from work and life and work. LOL! Everyone says go to a gym or find a boxing / kickboxing class so you can get out your frustrations… I did and it does work.
Bethel Park Fitness Kickboxing is one of the craziest, toughest workouts that I have ever attempted. I'm so happy that my friends, Karla and Jesse, dragged me while I was visiting. I was not in the mood to do anything while getting some much needed R&R. Glad I did. These guys ROCK!
I have never boxed or kick boxed before but have tried other gyms around like crossfit and yoga and spinning. Let me tell you what, fitness kickboxing is da bomb! I never knew I had muscles in places that I guess I now have them. (I feel it after every class.
Your first kickboxing class at Bethel Park Fitness Kickboxing
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
