From the reviews
My kids have attended the classes for ages 4-7 for a month and they love it! The classes have taught them discipline and self defense techniques.
My daughter started going here for 3 months now and she absolutely loves it. I think Coach Geno is amazing he is strict and wants the kids to respectful both inside class and outside class. I put my daughter in this program to learn self defense because this world can be cruel to girls.
My husband and son have been training at Alamo Ranch Martial Arts (RoundHouse) for about 6 months. They really enjoy it. Our son (13) has a gtube and is autistic; Coach G had no issues with him training here.
As of now, it has been a positive experience for my son who has ADHD. The class revolves around application and practice, and not a overload of instructions. New to kickboxing? Start at Alamo Ranch Martial Arts
Alamo Ranch Martial Arts comes up as a beginner-friendly gym — noted on their own site. If you've never thrown a punch or a kick, that's exactly who a good beginners class is for. A few things worth knowing before your first week. First, you don't need to be fit or coordinated to start — you get in shape by training, not before it, and coaches scale every drill to you. Second, you won't be thrown into hard sparring — reputable gyms build the basics (stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads and bags) first, and any contact eases in gradually under a coach's control. Third, all fitness levels really are welcome — ask about a dedicated beginners or fundamentals class time so your first session is alongside others who are also starting out. Most gyms are happy to let you watch or try a class first, so reach out before you commit.
Your first kickboxing class at Alamo Ranch Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
