From the reviews
I started in June and have been 2-3 times a week since. If you follow the routine you will learn great fundamentals and drastically improve your strength and confidence. Most importantly the best part of the gym is the staff and the atmosphere. Its a safe yet competitive environment. EDIT: Regarding the first review.
Best boxing gym in Birmingham bar none. You won't find a more skilled and knowledgeable team of trainers anywhere near. Dave is an awesome coach and generally a good person. If you really want to learn about boxing and train with passionate people, Round 1 is the place to do it.
This place is awesome! used to live in the area, spent a couple nights a week here for nearly 2 years. Dave's knowledge and training expertise are second to none- this coming from someone that has been to a few different gyms. Atmosphere is great and other members are friendly.
This place has changed my life. I have nueropathy I was very clumsy when I first started! I could not even stand up! Coach Dave is great! Everyone there is like family! This man has changed my life! Whether you want to work out or go out for the boxing team . Round 1 boxing has something for everyone!
Your first kickboxing class at Round 1 Boxing
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
