From the reviews
It was supposed to be a place of discipline and growth, but last class at the martial arts academy felt like a battleground due to an overly aggressive staff. The air was thick with tension and demeaning tones from instructors.
I’ve been attending KD MMA for years now and have learned so many new techniques. It has helped me grow both physically and mentally. I know all the coaches, especially Sensei Karen and Sensei Sevak—they are amazing people and truly great teachers.
I’ve trained all over the country KDMMA stands out. No gimmicks, just real work, sharp technique, and a raw, respectful culture that forges warriors. The coaches here dont just build fighters, they teach kids real discipline, grit, and confidence from day one.
I have been attempting KDMMA for 2 months now myself. I was super excited when i found out they have grappling classes for people over 40 and 50 years old. Everyone should try this place, highly recommended
Your first kickboxing class at KD MMA Montrose
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
