"Aura Kickboxing is more than just a gym—it’s a family. I’ve known Sophia and Dan for over two years, and their new space is incredible. The classes are fun, challenging, and perfect for anyone looking to grow. It’s truly my second home. Do yourself a favor and come try a class!"
My biggest change since starting at Aura mid March is, I’m happier! Aura kickboxing is fun! It’s tough, muscles may hurt, but I enjoy the classes so much it motivates me to continue. To exercise just to get in shape, (going to the gym to lift weights, workout on machines or take classes) doesn’t motivate me.
I'd rate this studio 1000 stars if I could. The owners - Sophia and Dan - are so attentive to ever single person that walks through the door. Whether you've never tried kickboxing in your life or you're a seasoned veteran, this studio works hard to cater to every level.
I signed up for the Kickstart program to give it a try. I had no kickboxing experience and was nervous that I might hurt myself or disrupt a class to learn the moves.
Your first kickboxing class at Aura Kickboxing
Nervous about walking into a kickboxing gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling the basics — stance, footwork, and punches and kicks on pads or a heavy bag — not hard sparring. Go at your own pace and rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: comfortable athletic clothes you can move and sweat in, and supportive trainers. What to bring: water, and hand wraps and gloves if you have them — many gyms lend loaner gloves for a first class, so it's worth asking. As you keep training you'll add your own gloves and wraps (and shin guards once you start sparring). Sparring is optional and eases in gradually, once your basics are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
